REVIEW SUFFERSYSTEM "DISINTEGRATION OF THE INDIVIDUAL"

Suffersystem from the beautiful half-timbered town of Hattingen in the Ruhr area will release their sixth album "Disintegration of the Individual" in mid-March, like its predecessor from 2021, once again via Black Blood Records. The two band members Dirk and Daniel, who are active in other bands such as Defected Decay (read a detailed interview in English here, in German here), False Mutation (who are also releasing a new album in March this year) and - relatively recently - Seeds of Torment, have added a new, fantastic chapter to the history of Suffersystem. The music on the ten tracks, which have a total playing time of 45 minutes, always moves between death and thrash metal, with a clear edge towards death metal.

Daniel's great, throaty vocals in particular are sometimes reminiscent of Mille from Kreator and sound very accentuated despite their guttural death metal articulation. The names of Death and Pestilence mentioned in the info sheet are well chosen references in terms of influences, I can also think of Morgoth. Due to the thrash influences, both in the vocal style and partly in the riffing, especially in the midtempo range, the Dutch scene veterans of Dead Head should also be mentioned, as well as bands like Sadus, Legion of the Damned or Demolition Hammer. The band always finds this special  mixture of fast, hectic, brutal parts and midtempo passages or sluggish and delayed rhythms, so that a relatively high dynamic prevails, melodic parts and interludes are not neglected in just the right amount. The participation of guest musicians from bands like Welcome to Pleshiwar, Symbiontic or Encoffined show the rootedness and participation of Suffersystem in the scene. In conclusion, if you like catchy but not too simple and powerful death metal with a thrash edge and great vocals, you should definitely give Suffersystem a listen!
