REVIEW SLAUGHTERDAY "ANCIENT DEATH TRIUMPH"

Slaughterday from Lower Saxony, Germany, will soon release their third album called "Ancient Death Triumph" on FDA RecordsAnd, as you might expect, it's again a very good album, which perfectly sums up the band's previous trademarks and strengths, i.e. dirty, rancid death metal, but which never goes off into the dull. This time there are more melodic sprinklings in the form of leads, which remind of later Death and especially Carcass, starting with the "Heartwork" era. These additional elements refresh the sound, admittedly I would not have thought Slaughterday capable of this kind of musicality in this form.
This can be heard perfectly in the song "Expulsed from Decay". Since most of the bands that refer to the above-mentioned sprinkles like later Death and Carcass are too brain-headed, too soft or boring, I can only say that Slaughterday have found the perfect synthesis of rancid old-school Death Metal on the one hand and melodically more playful variations on the other hand, so to speak the best of both worlds, as if Autopsy and Carcass had sired a wish child!

It remains to be said that the artwork of the record has become super and reflects the title perfectly ! The last track of the record is a cover version of the Anvil-track "Thumb Hang", which grabs the listener in a rather subliminal way. At first I wanted to write that I will never again become a fan of Death Metal cover versions of traditional metal songs, but thanks to the use of guitars and synthesizers Slaughterday delivers a little catchy tune at the end of the album. So, even without wanting to belittle the great deeds of deserving bands: Guys, don't keep talking, whether in real life or online, about any reunions of bands like Dismember, here are the new highlights !
